Brides
This woman echoed a feeling I've often had. Why do we only get to wear our wedding dress once in a lifetime? We spend our entire childhood dreaming of and waiting for that big day to arrive. We spend hours, even days and weeks, searching out the perfect gown for the perfect day. Then, when the day is over the dress is tucked neatly away with the hopes that just maybe we'll have a daughter who will want to wear it when she grows up. She almost never does.
We begin very young hearing stories of princes and princesses and happily-ever-afters. The closest most of us ever come to being a princess is on our wedding day, when everything revolves around us. It is the day we've waited for all our lives. It's our day in the spotlight. It's the beginning of never-ending-bliss.
Aaaahhh... fairy tales. Yet we still dream. And our little girl is dreaming of the day when she will be the one jumping for joy that her day has finally come.
