Tar Pit

I knew that I was almost finished with the painting, but with half the canvas still white, it didn't feel like I was. After finishing all the flesh I painted the rest in black. I couldn't believe the difference it made. Suddenly all of the figures popped and there was form and flesh and a real painting before me. It did, however, have the feeling that they were sitting in a tar pit :-)
