Everything in painting can be reduced to one of two basic elements - shape and color. If something isn't right, it's one of the two. Some days things move along as if someone else is controlling the brush. Other days it's all but impossible to feel like anything but a fraud. Today it was a matter of fixing shape, then having to fine tune the color, only to mess up the shape again; repeat; repeat; repeat. But, every day, no matter how small the progress, is indeed progress.
