Little One

This Little One does not have a name. She is not fully developed as a personality. She is oblivious to what is going on around her. Without the ability to experience a full range of emotions she doesn't comprehend the intensity of the situation. She has nothing to fear, yet nothing for which to hope. She stays close to Julie and still remains unattached. Eventually she may mimic the behavior she observes in others, but with no comprehension of what her actions mean.

The other girls are as oblivious to Little One as she is to them. Without a fully developed personality there is nothing to elicit any response. She remains a lost soul in the midst of life.

We all have moments when we are blissfully oblivious to life. At times this is a gift for coping with trauma. As an adult, the traumatic times in my life are the times my instincts kick into gear and I take care of whatever is needed without emotion.

Our bodies have the ability to go into shock so that we can survive trauma. An easy example is when there is a car accident and victims are physically injured. The body goes into shock in order to spend as much energy as possible on taking care of the most injured part of the body.

Emotionally we also have the ability to go into a state of shock, or oblivion. Sometimes it happens when we are simply overwhelmed with the day. When the trauma is more severe, we can go so far as to completely repress traumatic events and have no memory of what happened. It is our brain's way of using our energy to keep us going.

Little One is ironic so far as painting her goes. She represents the least developed of the personalities symbolically, yet she is the most developed as a figure. She is almost complete as is. Perhaps because there was not as much expression needed in her. Or, more logically, the light source on her was much less complicated than on some of the others. At any rate, I'm quite pleased.

I am loving what you are doing....the figures are all really taking shape and I can't wait to see the details. I also like how you are explaining each individual part as it explains a part of each of us
