A blank canvas is always daunting. It is also very exciting.
I staged the photo shoot six months ago. I tend to work that way. Now that I'm actually starting on this painting, I'm ready to set up the photo shoot for my next painting. It keeps the ball rolling and keeps me painting.
It is difficult to see the drawing on the canvas, but look hard, it's there. I painted over it imprimatura . Now it's just ready... set... paint!
"You don't know how paralyzing that is, that stare of a blank canvas ... which says to the painter, ‘You can't do a thing’. The canvas has an idiotic stare and mesmerizes some painters so much that they turn into idiots themselves. Many painters are afraid in front of the blank canvas, but the blank canvas is afraid of the real, passionate painter who dares and who has broken the spell of 'you can't' once and for all.”
