All Things Relative

Where does a day go? Time is such a slippery thing. I haven't had any significant chunks of time to paint, so I've dabbled here and there along the way. I was feeling as though I hadn't accomplished much, however all things being relative, I'm making more progress than I thought.

In the beginning

Over a couple of weeks

And yesterday.

Painting is much like authoring. First a subject is chosen, researched and the resources compiled. An outline is drawn and then it's down to the nitty-gritty work. From here on out it's a matter of drafting, or in this case, crafting. An author writes, reviews, assesses, rewrites and repeats until he's ready for an outside critique, and then it's fine-tuning and final drafts and ta-da!

I'm in my crafting stage. Every day I come back and re-assess and make little changes here and there and paint the next chapter. Tedious at times, completely self-absorbing at times, and in the end rewarding.

So, all things being relative, I guess I'm making progress after all.

“Success is relative. It is what we can make of the mess we have made of things.”
~T.S. Eliot
