The End

This was my favorite part of my adventure. I was able to stay until a crew came in from the fire. They were tired and dirty, but in such great spirits.

The line of trucks bringing them in was almost endless. I couldn't believe how long it took for the end of the line to roll into camp. But, I suppose when you realize they had 1,000 fighters and half of them were out at a time, it would make sense.

I admit to being emotional and feeling a tremendous sense of gratitude for their sacrifice on behalf of my neighbors and friends. If they had a recruiting station set up, I can tell you I would have been in line.

What a wonderful experience! I think it is great that you got to be there and see the human side of it all!
