To Obsess or Not to Obsess, That Is the Question

I haven't talked about process or technique so far and that is mainly because I haven't had time to even think much about it. I've never been under such a time constraint on a painting that really mattered. So the whole experience is very different for me.

When I began the project, knowing I only had three weeks to complete it, I told myself that I Would Not use anything smaller than a number 2 brush. I've already broken that rule. The eyes were too small and in order to get the detail I just Had To Have I resorted to a 0 brush. BUT... I didn't allow myself to obsess over anything else. Well... maybe only a little here and there.

I guess the only thing that I'm really consciously doing is layering. Hopefully the photos are showing her face building in color, value and form with each session.

Mostly, I'm just painting without a lot of thinking. It will be interesting to see how this experience effects future paintings. It's all about evolution - we are not static creatures. Every experience builds to the next and on we go.
